Youth Sports Hall of Fame
With a slew of family members on hand, Adam came through, taking the Bronze medal. He is the only AV-born athlete to earn an Olympic Medal.
Adam wrestling three times, against Lajos Virag of Hungary, Huachen Jiang of host China, and Germany's Mirko Englich. Then, he beat Tae-Young Han of Korea to earn the bronze medal.
After leaving Lancaster, Adam wrestled at Northern Michigan. He was a member of the Coast Guard from 1999-2004; he finished fourth in the 2001 Armed Forces Championships, and finished third in the 2002 Armed Forces Championships.
Adam currently lives in Colorado Springs. He is a graduate student at UCCS studying Public Administartion.

Adam became the first AV-born athlete to win an Olympic Medal
After upsetting Justin Ruiz, the five-time Greco-Roman Wrestling Champion, at the Olympic Trials, Lancaster High graduate Adam Wheeler was on his way to Beijing for the 2008 Olympics. Most experts gave him an outside shot at a medal at 96 kgs (211.5 lbs). Adam pulled it off, bringing home the Bronze medal.
