Quartz Hill grad Jodie Cox was recognized as one of the most dominant pitchers at the Division I level while playing for the Cal State Fullerton Titans
Cox is a 1999 graduate of Quartz Hill High School. She was named both the Los Angeles Times and Los Angeles Daily News San Fernando Valley Player of the Year in 1998 and 1999. Cox earned CIF Player of the Year honors in 1998 when her team won the CIF softball championship. She was the Antelope Valley female scholar-athlete of the year during her senior year with a 25-2 pitching record coupled with 12 home runs and 34 RBI to her credit. She finished a standout playing career for the Titans in 2003. Cox was a four-time All-Big West Conference selection from 2000-03. In 2003, she was named to the all-conference first team as both a pitcher and an outfielder. She was selected a third-team All-American and Big West Co-Pitcher of the Year as a senior after leading the team with 21 victories, a 1.06 earned run average and 224 strikeouts.
