After playing at AV High and AV College, Jim Slaton went on to be one of the all-time great pitchers for the Milwaukee Brewers
Slaton was All CIF in baseball at Antelope Valley High. He moved on to AV College, and then played for the Milwaukee Brewers from 1971 to 1977. After a one-year stint with the Detroit Tigers, he returned to play for the Brewers from 1979 to 1983. He was a California Angel from 1984 to 1986, and then closed out his career with the Tigers in 1986.
He is the Brewers all-time leader in Wins (117), Innings Pitched (2025.3), Games Started (268), and Shutouts (19), and he is second in Strikeouts and Complete Games.
He represented the Brewers and the American League in the 1977 All-Star game, and won game 4 of the 1982 World Series, when the Brewers beat the St Louis Cardinals 7-5.
Currently, he is the bullpen coach for the Seattle Mariners.
