Youth Sports Hall of Fame
In the soccer-crazy Antelope Valley, Leonard Griffin of Littlerock has accomplished more than any individual player.
He was a Daily News First Team All-Area selection in 1999-2000, and first team All-League selection his last three years. He still holds the Lobo's single-season scoring record with 24 goals in 1999-2000. He spent 2001 through 2003 with the Orange County Blue Star of the USL Premier Development League, and began his UCLA career in 2000. He helped the Bruins win a national championship in 2002, and was named an NCAA All-American in 2003.
He was also First Team All-PAC 10 his senior year at UCLA, and an Honorable Mention selection as a Junior. That Junior season, he was a key defender on a team that posted nine shutouts.
He was drafted 11th overall in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft by the Fire. His rookie season, he played a variety of defensive roles for the Fire, and finished with 330 minutes over 9 games.
Leonard also payed internationally. He was a member of the US Under-20 National Team pool and a member of the U18 and U17 team poos as well.
