The Highland boys swept Palmdale and Quartz Hill, while the Bulldog girls gained a split, in a high school track tri-meet Monday afternoon.
The
Bulldog boys defeated Palmdale 95-41, and slipped by Quartz Hill 75-61. The Rebels managed to sweep the shot put and the 3200
meter run, but Highland took the top spot in all but two other events. A sweep of the 200 meter dash by Eric McDaniel, Leonice
Brown, and Jorge Espeleta proved to be critical.
The Lady Bulldogs fell to Quartz Hill 73-63, but easily got by Palmdale
72-39. The Falcons were hurt by having no finishers in six events. The match with the Rebels was much closer. Marrisa
Elder, Lauren Hendrix, and Allison Burwell swept the 800 meter run for the Rebels. Quartz Hill also swept the pole
vault and the high jump. Highland has a 1st place finisher in 7 events, but it wasn't enough to overcome the three Rebel sweeps.
